Cable knitting is a beautiful style of knitting. Cables are formed by crossing one group of stitches over another at regular intervals. A part from the straight needles, I use a cable needle as a help to create cables. A cable needle is a short double-pointed needle. It may be straight or shaped with a hook in the middle. Today, I am going to show you how to knit an eight-stitch cable ( A
cable of two groups of four stitches is called an eight-stitch cable).
On a right side row, work to the position where required for the cable, insert the cable neelde purlwise into the first group (first 4 stitches), slipping them one by one off the left needle.
Keeping the cable needle at the back of your work, knit the next group (4 stitches) as shown in the photo.
Then, slip the stitches on the cable needle to the other end and knit
the group of four stitches. Beginning with the first stitch slipped.
Now, you can see the cable slants to the right.
By holding the cable needle at the back of your work makes a cable that
slants to the right. If you want the cable slants to the left, the
cable needle needs to be held in front of your work.
The cable shown in the photo was worked on every eight rows. You can create your cable at your desired intervals such as every nine or ten rows.
